DPI calculator

Changing your mouse DPI? Get the in-game sensitivity that keeps your aim exactly the same.

New in-game sensitivity0.2

Your eDPI stays at 320, so the same hand movement turns exactly as far as before.

How do I change DPI without changing my sensitivity?

Multiply your in-game sensitivity by your old DPI and divide by your new DPI. This keeps your eDPI constant, so the same hand movement turns the same amount. Doubling DPI from 800 to 1600 halves the sensitivity you need.

new sensitivity = sensitivity × old DPI ÷ new DPI

The sensor counts movement; DPI is how many counts it sends per inch.

Not sure what DPI your mouse really sends? Measure it with a ruler.

Put a ruler beside your mouse. Click the pad, move the mouse exactly that distance from left to right, then click again.

Frequently asked questions

How do I keep the same sensitivity after changing DPI?

Multiply your sensitivity by old DPI ÷ new DPI. Going from 800 to 1600 DPI halves it, so 0.4 becomes 0.2.

Is higher DPI better?

Higher DPI gives finer cursor steps, but aim speed is what matters. Use any DPI you like and adjust sensitivity to keep the same eDPI.

How accurate is the mouse DPI test?

Very accurate if you measure carefully: use a ruler, move in a straight line, turn off “Enhance pointer precision” and average three attempts. Mice are often a few percent off their advertised DPI.
